This event, hosted by the Durham Community Collaborative, is held annually during the nationally-observed Child Abuse Prevention month and recognizes the individuals, programs and organizations that are working through Durham’s System of Care to help families in Durham help their children to be safe and successful at home, at school and in their community.
These types of programs lead to successful children and economic prosperity for the local community through reduced government intervention, school drop-outs and child maltreatment.

The event was coordinated by the Durham System of Care Community Collaborative. Durham's System of Care is a framework for organizing and coordinating services and resources into a comprehensive and interconnected network to benefit children and families. The event was also supported by Exchange Clubs Family Center and Duke University’s Center for Child and Family Policy.

The sponsoring organizations were Healthy Start Academy, Durham’s Family Initiative, Center for Child and Family Policy, The Durham Center, Melange Health Services, Triangle Luncheon Civitan Club, Balloon Krazy, Jordan High School Art Students and The City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department.
