Community Collaborator
Become a Community Collaborator
Why Become a Community Collaborator?
Families of children with serious/complex behavior, academic, social, and/or safety needs can face tremendous challenges. These challenges are further complicated when families reach out for help to a human service system that is fragmented and uncompromising. Strong collaboratives spur actions that both improve outcomes for families and children seeking services and foster positive change in the systems that influence these services.
It takes collaborative efforts of the family and the community’s helpers, paid and volunteer, to provide the services and supports to assure that children reach their full potential as competent, caring and productive citizens.
The Community Collaborative works to fully maximize our efforts through information sharing, coordination and communication. Community Collaborators who adhere to the Durham System of Care values and principles will have:
1. Access to public policy makers, service providers, and others working to improve services for families and children.
2. Community-wide recognition at the Community Collaborative “Making a Difference Breakfast”.
3. Opportunities for regular communication and partnership with other collaborators.
4. Access System of Care trainings, including Child and Family Team training.
5. Collaborator distinction for County funding opportunities (grants) and resources.
6. Enhanced credibility with potential funders, local policy makers and new community collaborators.
7. Greater visibility such as designation as a Community Collaborator on the Durham System of Care website and CC awareness and promotional materials.
8. Access to the Community Calendar that allows the posting of some events and activities via Durham Network of Care.
